Extra Funding for the Holidays

Thanks to Rachel for the idea - it fit right in with our guest speaker in tonight's e-Commerce class (Ent Credit Union Internet Marketing Manager).

Today I was reminded about the skip payment feature for certain loans during the holidays. Most banks and credit unions will allow you to skip your December payment if you are in good standing on your loan. You have to call them and ask for it specifically, and understand that you are still charged interest on the loan that month, and the payment is added to the end of your loan - but for those that need a little extra in their pocket for holiday gifts, this might help.

Also, for those of you looking for shopping deals, both online and B & M (Brick and Mortar). Check out fatwallet.com - right now they are also listing all the Black Friday deals that are coming up next week...

Ice Cream Scoop

For those that know me well, know that I have a daughter that is an idea generating fool...

Her most recent idea fits in perfectly with "Prissy Girls."

Late one evening, she goes in the freezer and gets out the gallon of ice cream... She sits it out on the counter and doesn't like to wait for it to soften up a little, so starts digging at it with my best ice cream scoop, which works to let her scoop slivers of ice cream out. At this point, she looks at me and says, you know, they should come up with a battery operated heated ice cream scoop, one that the handle pops off, so you can just wash the scoop - it would make this sooooo much easier.

Necessity is the mother of invention - now if I can just find someone to buy the idea!

Interest Rate Changes

Did you know that it's possible to get your interest rates lowered on your loans with a simple phone call to the lender?

Recently I made a call to the bank to see if we could get our home equity loan rate lowered and in a matter of minutes (10-15) the representative came back and said sure - we can do that! For our loan it was going to be about 3% lower - we didn't want to change our payment amount, just the interest rate, which meant that we would pay off our loan at a faster rate!

Some banks charge a fee to do this, so make sure that the interest savings is going to be greater than the fee, or else it's not such a good deal...

So, make the call! All they can do is tell you no, but at least you know you tried to save yourself some money!

Background of the Blog

This blog is being created for all my girlfriends that choose the "Prissy Girls" way out to do everyday tasks. Some examples would be auto maintenance (or checks), household repairs, financial tasks, etc.

My BFF is my favorite "Prissy Girl" that chooses to take cookies and brownies to her mechanic to make sure he doesn't take her for everything she has, which I hate to say, actually works. He takes very good care of her and her daughters vehicles, to include helping them choose new cars.

Anyway - I'll use this blog to post my musings as they come along and try to keep it lighthearted, entertaining, and hopefully educational!
